Create your account and workspace

Everything you track in Brewstiller lives inside a workspace — your recipes, batches, sensors, and records all belong to one. Creating your account walks you straight into creating that first workspace, so you can be tracking a batch within a few minutes.

Create your account

1. On the Brewstiller home page, choose Join the beta. While the beta is closed, that button is replaced by Join the waitlist, or by a note reading Private beta — sign-ups opening soon that isn't a link at all. Sign in is always there, whatever the beta's posture.
2. You may land on an invite-code screen first. Some Brewstillers ask for an invite code before they'll even show you the sign-up form: a page headed Join the beta with a single Invite code field and the note "Brewstiller is invite-only while we're in private beta. Enter the code you were sent and you'll be able to create your account on the next step." Enter the code from your invitation and choose Continue — a valid code takes you straight to the sign-up form. If you don't have a code, there's nothing further to do on this screen but ask whoever invited you for one, or wait for the beta to open; Sign in is still there if you already have an account. (If choosing Join the beta takes you straight to a sign-up form instead of this screen, your Brewstiller isn't running the invite-code gate — skip to step 3.)
3. Fill in the sign-up form — your email address, plus a username and password if the form asks for them — then enter the verification code we email you to finish creating your account. You can add or change your first name any time from Account & profile once you're signed in (see Account and profile) — that's where Brewstiller gets the name it uses to address you.
4. When your account is ready, Brewstiller sends you into the setup wizard automatically. You should see the first step, Welcome to Brewstiller, at the top of the page.

If you already have an account, choose Sign in instead and enter your details. If you already belong to a workspace, signing in takes you straight to your dashboard.

Brewstiller's marketing site and the app itself live at different addresses, so signing in or signing up from the marketing site hands you over to the app — expect the address in your browser to change as you land.

Sign-ups may be closed. Brewstiller's beta is private, and public sign-up can be turned off entirely. If it is, the sign-up page reads Sign-ups are closed and offers only Sign in — you can still sign in with an existing account or an invitation. Signing in is never closed.

If you've been invited to someone else's workspace

If a teammate invited you before you got here, you don't need to create a workspace at all. Once you're signed in, a panel headed You have an invitation sits above the setup wizard, listing each workspace that's invited you with the role you'd have. Choose Review invitation to that workspace to open it and accept — see Members, roles, and invites. You can still create a workspace of your own instead; the panel doesn't block the wizard.

Accept the terms and confirm your age

The first step of the wizard, Welcome to Brewstiller, is where you read a short plain- language note about the law where you live and agree to the terms. Nothing here restricts features by location — it's an acknowledgment, not a gate.

1. Read the note titled A quick note on the law where you live, and the Beta Addendum §4 acknowledgment below it. (Any document named in these — the Terms of Service, Beta Addendum, and Privacy Policy — opens in a new tab if you want to read it in full; your progress is kept.)
2. Under the statement that you are of legal drinking age where you live, enter your date of birth (Month, Day, Year) and choose the Country you live in; Continue stays unavailable until you're at least the legal drinking age there, and Brewstiller keeps the country but not your date of birth.
3. Tick the box agreeing to the Terms of Service and Beta Addendum and affirming you will operate within the laws that apply to you.
4. Invite code — what you see here depends on how you arrived.
   • If you entered a code on the "Join the beta" screen in step 2 above, Brewstiller usually already has it on file for you: this step shows a line reading "Invite accepted — no need to enter it again." instead of a field. There's nothing to fill in here — skip to step 5.
   • Otherwise, you'll see an Invite code field. This is a separate ask from the "Join the beta" screen — it's the code for creating a workspace, not the one that got you to the sign-up form, so it can show up even if you already entered a code there. Whether it's needed depends on how your Brewstiller is set up:
     • Labelled (optional) — you don't need a code. Leave it blank and carry on.
     • Labelled (required) — Brewstiller is running invite-only for creating a workspace, and you need the code from your invitation to continue.
5. Choose Continue. The button stays disabled until both boxes are ticked — and, when the invite code is required, until you've entered one.

If your code turns out to be wrong or expired, you'll find that out at the end of the next step, when Brewstiller tries to create the workspace. It brings you back here and tells you what happened; nothing you typed on the next step is lost, so you can correct the code and carry straight on.

Name your workspace and pick your units

The second step, Create your workspace, sets up your workspace. New workspaces start on the hobby plan; you can manage plans later from Settings & team.

1. In Workspace name, enter a name for your operation — for example, Garage Brewery. You can rename it later in workspace settings.
2. Under Measurement units, choose how you'd like quantities shown: US customary (lb, °F, gal) or Metric (kg, °C, L).
3. Under What will you make?, pick any of Brewing, Winemaking or Distilling that apply. This only tailors your defaults — leave it blank if you're not sure and you'll get everything. You can change it later.
4. Choose Create workspace. When it succeeds, the wizard moves to the final step and your new workspace is active.

If the name you chose has already been used to create a workspace many times over, Brewstiller can't find a free address for it and tells you so instead of creating one: That workspace name is taken too many times — try a different name. This is rare — it takes several workspaces already sharing very close to the same name — and choosing a slightly different name and trying again resolves it.

Changed your mind about something on the previous step? Choose Back to return to it. Everything you've entered on this step is kept, so you can come straight back and finish.

Take your first step (or explore)

The final step, You're all set — let's make something, offers a few common first actions. Pick whichever fits, or head straight into the app.

1. Choose one of the cards to jump straight into that task:
   • Create your first recipe — its New recipe button lays out ingredients and steps (see Recipes & batches).
   • Connect a sensor — Add a sensor starts tracking temperature and gravity live (see Fermentation & sensors).
   • Import existing recipes — Import recipes brings in recipes from a BeerXML or BeerJSON file.
   • Add starter equipment — sets up your fermenters, kettle, and the rest with sensible defaults (see Equipment, cooperage, and locations). This card is part of the beta and can be switched off per environment, so you may not see it.
